What to Expect From Our State-of-the-Art Hearing Loss Tests
Congratulations on making the decision to improve your hearing! The first step in this exciting process is to take hearing loss tests to determine how extensive your hearing loss may be. At Hearing Lab we do everything we can to make you as comfortable as possible during your test and afterward. To help ease your mind and give you a chance to properly prepare for your test, here is a brief explanation of what you should expect during your appointment.
Hearing screenings are noninvasive, so you don’t need to be worried about experiencing discomfort. You can expect to go through the following processes:
Meet and Greet:
Before undergoing any hearing aid tests, our friendly receptionist will instruct you to fill out some brief forms.
Next, one of our experienced hearing specialists will examine your ear canal with a painless tool to determine whether any blockages, earwax buildup or medical problems are contributing to your hearing complications.
Be prepared to answer a variety of questions about your hearing history, including pain in the ears, noise exposure, medical issues and communication issues.
During this stage in the process, you will receive a traditional hearing test to help our specialist understand your current hearing abilities.
This test helps us determine which verbal sounds you may have a difficult time hearing and understanding.
When we receive the results of your hearing test, we will explain them to you in a non-complicated way with the use of graphs and charts.
Hearing Instrument Options:
We’ll go over hearing instrument options and how our cutting-edge hearing aid technology can improve your life.
To help you choose the right hearing instruments for your needs, we will allow you to try them out and experience them for yourself first.
Depending on the type of hearing aid you choose, we may need to take ear canal impressions.
Delivery of Instruments:
Customized hearing aids take a few weeks to manufacture. On your second visit, you’ll come in and pick up your new hearing aids.
